What is embodied AI?
Embodied AI refers to intelligent systems whose behavior is grounded in interaction with an environment. In robotics, the environment includes physical objects, surfaces, people and the robot's own body.
Why embodiment changes AI
A text-only system can produce an answer without moving through the world. A robot must connect perception to action while respecting geometry, uncertainty, contact and dynamics. This makes embodiment a systems problem, not only a model problem.
Embodied AI and robotics
Modern embodied AI combines perception, learning, planning and control. Vision-language-action models, robot foundation models, simulation and real-world datasets are different approaches to the same broader objective: useful intelligence grounded in action.
